Honeywell Center

Ages 12+

Kinusaiga is a captivating Japanese “no-sew” patchwork technique that transforms fabric scraps into intricate, textured masterpieces. Traditionally using silk from old kimonos, this method tucks fabric into pre-cut grooves in wood or foam (we'll be using foam), creating designs that resmble stained glass or mosaics. With no needles, thread, or glue required, artists can craft detailed, painterly compositions simply by pressing fabric edges into slits—making it a uniquely accessible and visually stunning form of art.

VISUAL ARTS

Discover the art of glass-on-glass mosaics, where colored glass pieces are layered to create intricate, luminous images. On an 8×10 surface, each piece is carefully arranged to form a vibrant, painterly design that allows light to shine through, giving your artwork a glowing, stained-glass effect. This technique is accessible to both beginners and experienced artists.
