This summer art experience invites students to explore a wide range of materials and ideas through the unifying theme of growth. Together, we’ll consider how growth shows up in our lives—through change, self-discovery, creative risk-taking, and inspiration drawn from the world around us, especially nature.
The week will begin with hands-on work in clay as students create a wall-hung vase, setting the tone for a collection of finished pieces. Each day introduces a new process or project, including printmaking with collagraph and intaglio techniques, bookmaking using the Secret Belgian binding, and painting inspired by time spent outdoors. Students will venture into nature to select subjects for abstracted or geometric compositions that reflect their personal interpretations of growth.
In addition to studio work, campers will enjoy time outside, a mini field trip in town, and the chance to connect with peers in a supportive, creative community. By the end of the week, students will leave with a meaningful body of artwork, new skills, and a deeper confidence in their creative voice.  And, of course, we will have a wonderful time!
